SUNDAY MESSAGE GROUP
Below is a modified "discovery group" for the use of Sunday's Messages for further discussion. It is a simple and multiplicative tool by nature because of two key elements:

-
DISCOVERY-BASED LEARNING: Everyone (even the "leader") in the study takes the posture as a curious learner rather than a biblical expert.

-
OBEDIENCE-BASED DISCIPLEMAKING: The goal of a discovery group is outcome-focused, meaning its success is focused on practical obedience and transformation, rather than acquired knowledge.

Below is the simple process of how you or anyone can make disciples who make disciples effectively as you learn from content together using our shorthand definition of what a disciple is: "A Whole Jesus Person" -- HEART, MIND, FEET, REPEAT

HEART
WHAT

-
WHERE ARE YOU? (GENESIS 3:9)

-
What are you feeling right now?
-
WHAT IS YOUR BODY FEELING RIGHT NOW?

WHY?

-
LOCATING & EXPRESSING HOW WE ARE AUTHENTICALLY FEELING HELPS US PRACTICE BOTH CONFESSION & VULNERABILITY and prepares us to be fully present with others (ACCEPTANCE)

TIPS

-
PROVIDE PEOPLE WITH WORDS TO PRACTICE: 8 Core feelings - FEAR, HURT, SADNESS, LONELY, ANGER, SHAME, GUILT, GLAD
-
HELPFUL RESOURCE ON THE 8 CORE FEELINGS: "VOICE OF THE HEART" by Chip Dodd
-

-
THIS IS A TIME OF heart connection, NOT CORRECTION!
-
Don't be like Job's friends who GOT INTO TROUBLE BY TRANSITIONING from simply BEING PRESENT to TRYING TO FIx
-

-
depending on the size of the group, Breaking up into gender-based "triads" (Groups of 3) might be appropriate
MIND
WHAT

-
read the PROVIDED "BiG Idea" FROM THE MESSAGE (CLICK HERE)

-
What did you hear During the teaching (or are you CURRENTLY hearing) from the Holy Spirit?

WHY?

-
reading the "Big IDea" allows others who might have missed the teaching to still engage in conversation and helps remind our brains the information that was discussed in the message

-
this question teaches people how to hear from jesus as the chief discipler

-
Discovering GOd's voice IN a group represents a more mature representation of the fullness of jesus (Eph. 4:11-13)

TIPS

-
REMEMBER: lead through facilitation rather than teaching
FEET
WHAT

-
TOWARDS JESUS: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? (Everyone creates an ‘I Will’ statement)

-
TOWARDS ONE ANOTHER: How can we come alongside you and help you with that? What do you want or need from us?

-
SPEND TIME IN PRAYER TOGETHER

WHY?

-
freedom is the outcome to an obedient life in the way of jesus, not knowledge (John 8:31-32; i.e. pharisees)

-
the expression of vocalizeD CONTEXTUAL needs creates opportunity to exercise our spiritual gifts (CLICK HERE) outside of the group and become "an answer to prayer" for one another over time, building deeper trust and community

TIPS

-
Do not take separate "prayer requests", but use your prayer time to pray for the needs that organically were shared BASED ON WHAT JESUS IS DOING IN OTHERS

-
if you are running out of time, ask for permission to go an extra 15 minutes for prayer

-
For the prayer time, depending on the size of the group, Breaking up into gender-based "triads" (Groups of 3) might be appropriate
REPEAT
WHAT

-
Who are you going to tell about what you discovered?

WHY?

-
what god does in us (Disciples), is meant to be used through us (disciplemaking), and beyond us (Make disciplemakers)
-
This helps us build awareness around Opportunity to practice (EVERyDAY) SPIRITUAL CONVERSATIONS with those we have influence with and identify PERSONS OF PEACE (those jesus has prepared ahead of time - Luke 10:5-6) we can have further disciplemaking relationship with

TIPS

-
If you've run out of time, treat this as a "benediction" so it doesn't get lost
